Brig. Gen. Dariusz SKORUPKA, DSc, Eng., Rector Commandant of General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces, led the University’s delegation during the annual European Military Academies Commandants' Seminar (EMACS) in Tartu, organised by the Estonian National Defence College.

EMACS is the largest European discussion forum for commandants of military universities which aims at developing joint solutions to issues associated with the appropriate training of future officers, which would meet their real needs. Nearly 40 representatives from 23 military institutions and universities, including 13 Rector Commandants, participated in this years’ meeting. The seminar is organised cyclically to fall in the period from July to December of a given year, in the main military university of the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Our University also acted as host in 2011. During the meeting, the University was mentioned a number of times as an example of an active and effective partner in international cooperation, and also as an organiser of various initiatives under the so-called Military Erasmus. Colonel Dr. Harald Gell, MSc, MSD, MBA (Austria), Chairman of the Implementation Group, thanked the Rector Commandant of AWL for the significant contribution of our University to the development of international programmes. The details of the military education standardisation, process based on the European initiative for the exchange of young officers, inspired by Erasmus, were presented by Dirk Dubois (Belgium), Head of the European Security Defence College. Participants in EMACS were honoured with the presence of General Riho Terras, Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, who gave a special reception on that occasion. Austria will host the next EMACS meeting next year at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt.
