On 5 July 2018, the Military University of Land Forces had as guests a delegation of the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt led by Commandant Maj. Gen. Karl Pronhagl. The delegation was accompanied by Austrian defence attaché Col. Friedrich Ölböck.

The meeting started with a presentation on the Military University of Land Forces delivered by the Head of the International Cooperation and Social Communication Department, Lt. Col. Rafał Niedziela. Afterwards, the guests and their hosts discussed the educational and training systems implemented in both schools, focusing mainly on the specificity of staff education and training at the AWL.

During their visit to the University, the representatives from Austria had a chance to see the University’s tradition hall, academic library, as well as its teaching and training facilities. In the Teaching and Training Centre, the guests could see the innovative PACAST tactical simulation system, VBS3 (VirtualBattleSpace3), the ŚNIEŻNIK educational and training facility, the “Aster” tactical motorised platoon simulator, and the “Jaskier” training simulator, which allows one to learn how to drive the Rosomak armoured vehicle.

The visit ended with an official dinner, for which the Austrian delegation was invited by Vice-Rector for Military Affairs Col. Marek Pytel.
