On 1 June 2017, Brigadier General Dariusz Skorupka, DSc, Eng., Rector Commandant of LFMA, including representatives of 15 Universities, signed the deed establishing the International Association of Military Academies (IAMA).

The founders of this association also included:

  • College Militaire Royal de Saint Jean – Canada
  • The Royal Military College of Canada – Canada
  • Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College – Qatar
  • Kenya Military Academy – Kenya
  • Escuela Militar de Cadetes “General José Maria Cordóva” – Colombia
  • Korea Military Academy – South Korea
  • School of Applied Military Studies – Italy
  • Universita Degali Studi di Torino – Italy
  • The Jagiellonian University – Poland
  • The United States Military Academy at West Point – The United States
  • Militärhogskölan Karlberg – Sweden
  • Centre de Recherches Militaires – Tunisia

Other universities from around the world were invited to join the association. They will become its members after signing and ratifying the agreement.

IAMA is a platform used to exchange views and experiences among universities from around the world. This will facilitate more intensive cooperation between institutions responsible for training officers.

It also coordinates and organises the International Symposium on Military Academies (ISOMA).
