For whom?

Leadership is a first-cycle full-time military programme delivered entirely in English for foreign officer-candidates. It is run at the Faculty of Management under relevant international agreements.

Our Leadership programme is intended for officer-candidates who want to acquire requisite qualifications enabling them to carry out tasks in a military unit environment, to command, organize and conduct training as well as educational activity up to the platoon level (after completing a second-cycle military programme). It provides officer-candidates with specialist knowledge and skills essential for junior officers in their first appointments in a particular branch of the army.

The completion of our Leadership programme makes graduates eligible to continue their education and enrol for a second-cycle programme in the field related to Leadership and Management.

What specialty?

Students in the Leadership programme are educated and trained to command sub-units in selected branches of the army and specialties such as:

  • Armour
  • Infantry
  • Air Assault
  • Artillery
  • Reconnaissance
  • Air Defence Artillery
  • Contamination Reconnaissance and Decontamination

The choice of particular branches that will be offered to foreign officer-candidates is subject to a prior agreement between the sending country and our University.

What does the programme of study cover?

Students in the Leadership programme are provided with thorough preparation with regard to management theories and strategies, international relations, history, including history of the art of war, and global, regional and local security, which is important for their future service, in particular with regard to the analysis of the current political situation and its impact on the state of security on different levels. The core part of the programme of study focuses on the acquisition of knowledge, skills and social competencies necessary to serve in command roles in military units and institutions.

In addition, the programme provides for two work placements of six months’ duration in total. They are usually completed at our University and military units.

Upon graduation, students are awarded a bachelor’s degree.

The programme lasts six semesters and covers approx. 3800 contact hours. It may be preceded by an intensive course of English.
